MOVING TO KOREA

Moving to Korea Cost Calculator

The hardest part of a Korea move is often upfront cash, not the first month's ordinary budget. Separate refundable housing deposits from fees and setup spending.

01

What matters

Housing deposit

Even wolse rentals can require a substantial deposit before move-in. It is refundable in principle but unavailable for other needs.

Setup spending

Flights, temporary lodging, brokerage, moving, furniture, phone and household basics can cluster into the first weeks.

Keep a buffer

Do not plan to arrive with exactly the calculator total. Timing gaps and unexpected document or housing costs are common.

Practical example

Build a two-stage moving plan

First calculate cash required before receiving the keys. Then create a separate recurring monthly budget. This prevents a refundable deposit from being confused with money available for food and transport.

02

Before transferring money

  • Verify the property, landlord and contract
  • Confirm when the deposit and rent are due
  • Allow for temporary accommodation
  • Keep emergency funds accessible outside the deposit

Planning note

Use written quotes and current listings. Do not transfer a housing deposit without appropriate contract and identity checks.
